Angelo Donghia

We recently visited the Donghia showroom and sat in on a delightful lecture by President Crans Baldwin. He featured archival photos of Angelo Donghia, founder of Donghia.

Donghia has always focused its design attention on both comfort and style—providing clients with chic, sophisticated interiors and products. Throughout the 70’s and early 80’s, Mr. Donghia’s client list grew to include a who’s who of celebrities and design stars, including Halston, Liza Minelli, Donald and Ivana Trump, Mary Tyler Moore, Calvin Klein, and Ralph Lauren. Many of Mr. Donghia’s installations and own homes, in New York, Connecticut, and Key West, were featured in countless magazines and have remained timely and timeless to this day.

Here is a beautiful shot of Mary Tyler Moore's New York apartment in the early 1980's designed by Angelo Donghia.

Suzani fabrics at Donghia

Suzani is a traditional decorative textile typically woven in silk and cotton during the 19th century in Central Asia. The Donghia design team has captured this time-honored art in an amazing woven textile while still staying true to the integrity of a Suzani blanket.

Unexpected and updated colors make Suzani an excellent choice for small and large upholstery projects. We simply love the pink and green colorway!

An Amazing Photographer

"PORTRIATS OF CURIOSITY"
By April Brimer

April is an up and coming talent with an amazing photographic eye and flair for the surreal. The fox series is one of our favorites! We compare her to a young David LaChapelle. So stunning!

White House Interiors

In honor of the Presidential Inauguration, we thought we would link to the article and photos from "Architectural Digest" March 2008 on the newly redecorated White House.

Check it out:

"It is the most famous building in the world. People who have never heard of 10 Downing Street or the Élysée Palace know exactly what the White House is and even what it looks like. It is more than four walls and a roof. It is a symbol. Every day, in dozens of languages, television commentators report “the White House said today”—as if the building had a life and personality all its own. And in fact it does. For more than 200 years the White House has been a living home to American presidents and their families. Everyone who walks its halls is conscious of all those—Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt—who have gone there before. “There’s a great reminder of history when you live here,” says Laura Bush, the wife of the current and 43rd president." Design Glut's Goods

At Woodson & Rummerfield's, it is our job to keep the design enthusiasts aware of the latest and greatest, hot designer goods out there. One of our favorite team of product designers is "Design Glut", out of Brooklyn.

Design Glut, a pair of two hipster gals Kegan and Liz, really get future forward product design. We met them at ICFF 2008 and their star is rising!

We get a kick out of their witty approach to contemporary hot topics such as the smoking gun cigarette holder:

"For the die-hard smoker, this accessory will underscore just how bad-ass you are. For those who would like to quit, perhaps this metaphor will help suppress your cravings."
