High Point & Lexington Home Brands
We recently attended the Spring High Point Market in North Carolina. We had the great pleasure of being sponsored by the furniture company Lexington Home Brands. The wonderful staff gave us an extensive private tour of their elaborate furniture showroom and High Point Campus showcasing their collections and latest products.
The brand new, orange lacquered Hermes style "Aria" chest was a huge favorite. Here we are on the Lexington Home Brand Campus.
From exotic prints and wood finishes to sleek surfaces and metallic details. Our special tour of the furniture manufacturer's showroom was a treat for the eyes. It is not often that one gets to meet the furniture designers and hear how they have come up with a collection first hand.
Attention to detail and hardware was beyond exception on everything in the collections of furnishings. The textiles and finishes are lovely and high quality.
We were inspired to see unique pieces and items that define personality. Items like these can easily make a project sing!
The variety of pieces was limitless. The various collections spanned over many tasteful styles. From traditional to glamor they it covered. For us that is important on when working on tight deadlines. Sourcing has to be thorough and they have certainly have the chops to back it up. Lexington Home Brands has been producing furnishings since 1903.
We had such a fun time touring the headquarter's and spending the day with Habitually Chic's very own Heather Clawson and Style Beat/ Editor at Large's Marisa Marcantonio. (Jaime & Heather in photo.)
They even have their own gourmet restaurant on the premises.
All in all there were beautiful furnishings around every corner. Here's Ron entering yet another showroom collection on the campus.
High Point always brings together the country's top design talent. So happy to see our very own Ashlina Kaposta (The Decorista). Here were are celebrating at the Four Hands party.

Mood Boards
Move over Pinterest! We make boards the old fashioned way. By hand.
Mood boards tell the story of a project concept. Here's a series of an ultra-chic project in the works.

The Making Of A Cover
Yes! We are the National Winter issue cover of Luxe Interiors + Design magazine.
We wanted to share a bit of our process and what we think makes a room cover ready. In this case, we had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Maison de Luxe showcase house at Greystone. The mother of all showcases houses. Our room was the prestigious "Mrs. Doheny's bedroom".
First off ~ a great big thanks to our vendors and collaborators that helped make the room shine.
HabiteLA provided the most exquisite antiques that drove a big part of the look and feel. Once we decided on the general concept, we developed the color palette and hit the drawing board.
Studying the floor plan the layout of the room is created along with sketching and design development with inspiration images. Some can been seen on my Pinterest board http://pinterest.com/jrummerfield/lucy-doheny/ and the below material board.
We are so grateful to Pearson for providing such sumptuous fabrics and furnishing for this stunning room. Our color theory is based on one side of the color spectrum. The pink side.
From soft blush to deep rose and berry tones. Like all shades of lip rouge. The room was design for a Hollywood starlet of a romantic bygone era.
And Big thanks goes out to our Extraordinary Design assistant Ryan Saghian for all your, well, assistance. And great style.
And viola! A pink splendor.

Our signature style is to incorporate many unexpected elements, like vintage details, fresh squeezed color palette and portrait artwork.
As well as over the top details like these fabulous fringed trimmed window treatments and tasseled lambrequins.
We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. What a gorgeous cover! Here's a W&R tip: Think about how your space will look photographed. Ask yourself is this a photogenic room? It may change the way you approach a project.
Thank you Luxe Interior + Design magazine!
